The Pittsburgh Power have hired former NFL three-time All-Pro linebacker Shane Conlan as the team’s Vice President of Corporate Partnerships.
Conlan, a native of Frewsburg, NY, played college football at Penn State University under the great Head Coach Joe Paterno. During his time as a Nittany Lion, he won two National Championships, amassed 274 tackles, set a school record of 186 career solo tackles, and was twice named a NCAA All-American. In the 1987 Fiesta Bowl, Conlan’s eight tackles and two interceptions against Miami (FL) helped secure a National Championship and undefeated season for Penn State.
In 1987, Conlan was selected as the 8th overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press. During his nine-year career in the League, Conlan played for the Bills (1987-92) and the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams (1993-95). He appeared in three Super Bowls (1990, 1991, and 1992) and three Pro Bowls (1988, 1989, and 1990).
Since his retirement from the NFL in 1995, Conlan has worked for Esmark Inc. as the company’s Vice President of Commercial Real Estate.
“I am happy to welcome Shane Conlan as the newest member of our executive team,” stated Power Owner Matt Shaner. “Conlan’s exemplary reputation in the Pittsburgh business community, along with his notoriety both on and off the playing field, will undoubtedly strengthen our relationships throughout the region,” Shaner remarked.
The Power kick off their fourth Arena Football League season in March, 2014 at CONSOL Energy Center.
